During 1982 and 1983 a number of engineering organizations formed a joint
council in order to assist these organizations to achieve their own
individual goals. The key activities of this organization can be summarized
as follows:
- Supporting participation by Members in programs to
encourage students to pursue engineering and other scientific careers.
- Disseminating information to those member organizations
that desire facts which may be used to identify students who could be
considered for academic scholarships.
- Producing and distributing a calendar of Member
activities.
- Developing resource information for program chairpersons
regarding speakers and topics of interest to the engineering community.
- Providing a forum for introducing and considering matters
of general interest to the engineering profession.
- Furthering the public welfare by identifying, making
known, and promoting local professional Member organizations as sources of
expertise to assist in the solution of public problems of an engineering
natures.
- Channeling or directing to the proper member
organization, or other technical sources in the absence of local membership
of a particular discipline, requests for technical information.
- Managing the preparation and distribution of an area wide
roster of individuals who are members of participating organizations of the
Joint Engineering Council.
- Encouraging high standards of Professional Ethics.
This new website is designed to capture many of those
early ideals of the organization. Since we are a volunteer organization, it
is the responsibility of each member organization to keep its information up
to date.
