How can I become a member of the JEC? Membership in the JEC is available to local engineering
organizations including chapters, sections or other affiliates of regional,
state, or national engineering organizations. Membership in JEC is awarded
to organizations, not to individuals. |
How are organizations represented in the JEC? JEC consists of one Representative from each member
organization. A Representative may represent more than one Member when duly
appointed by each member organization. |
When does the JEC meet? JEC members typically meet on the 4th Monday
of the month and as needed or for special functions. Anyone can attend a
meeting. Interested parties or other representatives are invited to voice
their opinions or offer guidance to the group. Key meetings or functions
include the following: - A budget approval meeting is usually held in January.

In March or April there is an Elected Officials Luncheon.
Last year Kansas City, Kansas, Mayor Carol Marinovich was the guest speaker,
and the year before that KCMO Mayor Kay Barnes was the guest speaker
at the luncheon.
- September normally brings the Presidents Dinner Meeting, which
brings together the Presidents of each member organization.
- Finally, in November a meeting is held to formally nominate JEC
Officers for the December election.

Does the JEC publish a directory? JEC publishes a Joint Engineering Council Directory annually,
listing individual memberships of those organizations whose national
chapters allow their information to be shared. |
Can I view the JEC Directory online? The JEC membership list cannot be posted electronically due to
National Organization restrictions.

How do I obtain a printed JEC directory?
If your local
organization does participate then you should be listed. Otherwise you
are not eligible unless you are an officer. The publisher provides each JEC organization with
five copies and the JEC with 10 extra copies.

Does the JEC accept corporate sponsorship for this website? The JEC at this time does not have corporate sponsors for this
website but may in the future.

What college scholarships are offered by the JEC? The JEC does not offer any college scholarships, however we attempt
to track and reference those local and national organizations that do.

What is the JEC's involvement in the Engineer's Week Luncheon? The JEC is not responsible for the Engineer’s week luncheon in
February. That luncheon is jointly hosted by the local chapters of KSPE and
MSPE.

How does the JEC get its funding? Each organization has a base fee
of $50/year with additional funding of 15 cents per member residing and
working in the seven-county metro area (Clay, Platte, Jackson, Cass, Johnson,
Wyandotte, and Leavenworth).
